Ticor Developments has announced plans for a $120 million redevelopment of Centro Nerang shopping centre on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
The proposed redevelopment will include an additional 40,000 sqm of retail space to include a major supermarket, discount department store, state-of-the-art cinema complex and specialty stores.
Ticor acquired land adjoining Centro Nerang in early 2007, with the intention of creating a world class retailing precinct for the community. Consultation was held with Nerang Advisory Committee and Gold Coast City Council to ensure a broad cross section of the local Nerang community were represented in the development of the plans to create a relaxed, family friendly place, connecting the community with the natural environment. Nerang Advisory Committee acts as representatives for local residents, parents, retailers, customers, community, businesses and government service providers.
"Over the last 12 months we have worked closely with Nerang Advisory Committee to incorporate their ideas into the design of the redevelopment. We are confident that our plans achieve an appropriate outcome which best meets the community’s needs and aspirations" said Tim Atkins, Director – Developments for Ticor.
"Ticor Developments is working closely with Gold Coast City Council and other State Government agencies through the planning process to ensure that all planning issues are appropriately addressed and in accordance with best practise planning principles."
The redevelopment will present an opportunity to improve upon existing traffic and parking problems through the widening of Gilston Road, and continuous pedestrian and cycle access along the riverbank. Centro Nerang will be repositioned as an important retail precinct, servicing the Gold Coast Hinterland whilst also providing significant employment opportunities both during the redevelopment and the future operation for the local community.
If approved, the project is expected to commence in late 2008.

| The Ticor Group released approved plans for the upgrade of Marina Mirage Shopping Centre at Main Beach. The plans revealed additional retail space, extra parking and a host of new labels, stores and restaurants that will further cement Marina Mirage’s long held reputation as a world class waterfront shopping, dining and lifestyle destination.
The redevelopment is already underway and is designed to re-shape the existing centre, a favourite amongst the glamour set, to ensure the world class waterfront centre that commenced trading in 1988 can re-establish its own benchmark as Queensland’s best.
Home to some of the worlds leading fashion labels including Hermes, Escada and Versace Collection from Guardi, Marina Mirage will continue to build on its iconic brand status with the introduction of new stores that will include a well known list of international and Australian fashion stores, homewares and a host of new and exciting restaurants.
Ticor purchased the centre in 2005 and expect the redevelopment to take 12 to 18 months to complete. During construction the centre will continue to trade and customers are encouraged to enjoy shopping at the centre while it receives its brand new look.
Ticor Director Mr Richard Weinberg, is confident the improved design, layout and facilities will be well received by local Gold Coast residents as well as the domestic and international tourist markets that currently frequent the centre.
"We realise that this is a unique opportunity to enhance Marina Mirage and create something special. We are not developing just another shopping centre. Marina Mirage has long held an enviable prestige reputation and has cemented relationships with premium brand affiliates who demand and deserve the very best."
"We will be working with this formula in mind, and our aim is to enhance Marina Mirage to ensure that it continues to be known as a world class waterfront shopping, dining and lifestyle destination, equally as appealing to the consumer markets that have underpinned it’s success, but also embracing new consumer trends that will add to the centre’s ability to attract local, national and international clientele" Mr Weinberg said today.
